In today’s world everyone has the same excuse, ‘I don’t find time to do this’.
I remember the days when I started to sketch, taught by my art teacher in school. There was this urge to be the best amongst
the 45 students in my class.
From a simple apple to a scenery, from a part
of a body to a whole portrait, that’s what is called Progress. Amidst the race
to always prove yourself the best, my teacher had taught me to "build the
creativity in you".
Here
are some if the life lessons that Art taught me...
Confidence - You cannot please everyone, be you
My passion for art started with pencil
sketching. Yes, the only colors were Black and White. Many considered it
boring, while I thought those we were the real colors. Amidst a lot of people
telling to change the style I stood by to do what I wanted to.
Critics are always welcome!
Growth - Stay in style, be updated
The room of art is built with creativity.
While you may have your own style, it is important to grow with the growth.
Your creativity needs to flow through time.
While I was done with an apple, I
moved to a scenery. While the scenery was done, I progressed to portraits.
While portraits kept flowing, zentangles started to take their place.
Always stay unstoppable.
Dedication - Keep your cool, be dedicated
Sometimes what you want may really not be the
something that is you. Not everything is one’s cup of coffee.
While I got deep into zentangle art and thought I can do any kind of zentangle, a friend of mine challenged me one of
the picture of Lord Shiva. Sadly, I have not been able to get my hand on it. I shall do it some point in my life. However, it is important to not
lose focus, but stay dedicated.
Time management and Focus - Set your targets, be successful
In today’s world everyone has the same excuse,
‘I don’t find time to do this’.
A good excuse. However, if you want to do
something that you are passionate about, you can make time.
When I thought I had no time due to balancing of my personal-professional relationship, I challenged myself to draw one mandala
a day. When I dedicated 10-15 minutes of my time out of the whole day, it seemed no-big
deal.
Problem solving - Raise the bar, Challenging is more fun than easy
Small stuffs are easy, but may not be fun.
Much before zentangles, I was into
quilling and it was simple rolling of papers of different colors. But, no, not
so much fun.
I got into making more complicated patterns to
keep the energy going.
You will feel great when you great on having
done something challenging than just simple.
Accountability - Copying is easy, but not you
You are not a born expert, but you can choose
to be one!
It is easy to exactly do the same thing what
others have been doing, mostly because the end is predictable. Try out things
that has never been done before, that is where you can have your own identity.
Though I have mostly been practicing stuffs from
the YouTube or Pinterest, I am sure to have something of own someday.
Big
or small, doesn’t count.

Inspiring! Makes me want to start learning to draw!
